About Us

Who are we and what do we believe? As members of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod we confess that the Bible is entirely the infallible Word of God and that it is the message of salvation through Jesus Christ who is “the way the truth and the life.”(John 14:6) Adult and youth programs involve all ages and challenge us to live out our confession and to fulfill the Great Commission to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to all people”. (Matt.28:20)

Established in 1882 to serve a largely agricultural area, we are a rural congregation of 400+ baptized people who are seeking the will of God as we serve our community. Through faith building, Christ-centered worship, Bible study and caring ministries, the Lord is using us to build his body up for service to others. Our worship is a blend of many styles from traditional to contemporary. This allows for a greater use of the variety of gifts the Lord has given to his Church.

Christ has called us to be “equipping the saints” (II Tim.3:16-17) for ministry by using the gifts He has given each person to serve others.  As you join us, you will discover a welcoming congregation where you will meet and make many new friends in the Lord. We invite you to come and be encouraged and built up in faith through the powerful Word of Christ.

Who is Pastor Volzke? I was born Aug.20, 1951 and grew up on a farm near Waco Nebraska and attended Centennial high school in Utica. Graduating from UNL in 1973, I taught vocational agriculture in Norfolk for two years before the Lord called me into the ministry. After doctrinal training at Concordia University Seward I was called to congregations in Sumner and Lexington (Buffalo) Nebraska in 1977 as a worker priest. This is where I met my wife Peg. We were married April 14, 1979 and moved to Burwell and Sargent Nebraska in 1988 where Peg started a preschool. There the Lord completed our family of 4 children and we moved to Christ Juniata in 1999. My interests include gardening, fishing and raising pigeons. These all find their way into many children’s sermons and object lessons.

May the love of the Lord dwell in you richly through Christ our Savior.
