Lutheran Youth Fellowship:
Christ Lutheran encourages young people to grow in their knowledge of the Bible and to put what they have learned into practice. Youth are engaged in a variety of activities, servant and mission events and regular worship and Bible study. Most importantly is the safe place provided to ask questions and to find support for making God pleasing choices in life?
The Lutheran Youth Fellowship (LYF) meets every Wed. at 6:45 for worship and bible study. Worship is led by our praise band which also leads Sunday worship a few times each year. The Jr. High and Sr. High students each have their own Bible study following the praise time.
Sr. High youth participate in an annual mission trip. In the past we have ministered to the homeless on CO, IL, & NV as well as helping with home restoration and children’s ministry among native Americas in SD. Local projects include involvement with a food pantry and shelter, prayer at an abortion clinic and hosting area youth at lock-ins and inviting in guest speakers. Activities are also part of the program, including dodge ball, hay rides, swimming parties, and much more.
Lutheran Layman’s League (LLL)
LLL is a men’s service organization centered upon the Word of God, connected to a national network of men to encourage men in their walk of faith. The Christ Lutheran LLL meets on the second Tue. of each month at 8:00 for bible study and prayer. We also join with men across the nation, through various projects to support the ministry of the Lutheran Hour TV and radio programs as well as the “Men’s Network” activities.
Many of the men have found a way to use their antique tractors as a witnessing tool in local parades. All are invited to join the annual dart-ball tournament for fun and fellowship. Area groups join together to offer scholarships and to provide encouragement to one another in the work of the Lord.
Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League (LWML)
The work of the LWML provides opportunity for women of all ages to discover God’s gifts and to use them for his kingdom. The LWML is a service organization for women in the Church. As part of the state and national organizations they support missions around the world and provide scholarships for Church-work students. Locally the LWML offers Bible study and activities every month. Their service to the congregation and community includes serving lunches at funerals, food & clothing drives as well as assembling care packages for missions. You will find the women of the LWML reaching out to hurting families with gifts of food and a listening ear when tragedy or illness strike. All are welcome to join in this ministry and on the third Tue. of each month for faith-building fellowship.
Men’s Bible Study
The men’s Bible study meets for breakfast from 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. every Thursday at the OK Café. Bible studies deal with issues that men face and provide a support group for all who come. Service projects have begun through this group with the filling of sandbags in IA. We hope to do more in the future. The group takes a break through planting and then again at harvest.
Woman’s Bible Study
All women of the community are welcome to the Monday morning Bible study at the parsonage. Here women discover a safe place to care for one another as they gather around the Word of God. Prayer is a large part of what these ladies are all about. The power of prayer is available to all who seek the Lord.
Emergency Needs Ministry
Spiritual and physical care is the calling of the elders of the Church. The elders of Christ Lutheran administer funds for those facing emergencies and difficulties in life. They also lift them up in prayer. These men assist the Pastor in the care of all who come for help. As needs are encountered the help of the members is enlisted to act as those early Christians did when it was said of them “O how they love one another.”
