FROM THE PASTOR
ADVENT 2011,
Wednesday’s 7:30 P.M. “JESUS FULFILLS THE SCRIPTURES”
Jesus was the promised Messiah and as we meditate upon the promises we see them fulfilled in the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. Join us this Advent season for a study that will take us through these texts to discover how Jesus not only fulfilled scripture but fills up completely the meaning of the promises.
ADVENT DEVOTION BOOKS
Advent devotions from the Lutheran Hour are available in the foyer. This year they are designed to give away as a witness to your friends and neighbors. Please pray about who you might share the Good News of Christ with and give them one of these devotion books.
WORSHIP
Sunday, December 4: In keeping with our Advent theme of Jesus and his fulfillment of prophase Matthew 1:1-8 presents the first quote from Isaiah 40:1-11 & yet there is something different. We look to II Peter 3:8-14 to learn how to apply these words to our lives. “Prepare” is the title and God’s command.
Sunday, December 11: “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” is one of the most foolish things we can say and yet for a Christian it is true. Isaiah 61:1-11 Is God’s promise that bring peace. That promise is fulfilled in John 1:6-28 and will ultimately be fulfilled in the way described in I Thessalonians 5:16-24.
Sunday, December 18: “What Could Possibly Go Wrong?” We all know the answer in this world. Our plans frequently meet with failure and frustration, but God’s plans always succeed. Seeking his plan is the only way for us to succeed. II Samuel 7:1-11, Romans16:25-27 & Luke 1:25-38 show that God and man are not on the same page much of the time and only God’s wisdom can be trusted.
Sunday, December 25: “Unto us a child is born!” Luke 2:1-7.

ADULT BIBLE CLASSES, SUNDAY'S 9:00 A.M.
“Joseph, Carpenter of Steel” is a 4 part video Bible study for Advent. We study a man chosen by God to be the earthly father of His Son. Spoken to numerous times by angels yet we do not have single word recorded from His lips, leaving us the mystery man to get to know through His actions.
LWML will not meet in December.
LYF- LYF meets Wed. at 6:45 for praise and for Bible study. We will try to develop a list of attributes of God that cover every letter of the alphabet. Get out your Bible concordance and find words that describe God. Remember God does not have a name! All of the names we use for God are actually descriptions of him.
