Sunday, February 5: A hero is someone you want to be like.  If Jesus were your hero, how would your life be different?  In I Cor. 9:16-27 Paul seeks to be like Christ as he does all he can to serve others.  Jesus shuned popularity in Mk. 1:29-39.  Do we serve just to get people to like us?  We may never know how an act of love will affect another but Isa. 40:21-31 tells us that God’s ways are beyond our understanding.

Sunday, January 1: The events of Luke 2:21-38 take place 8 days after the birth
of Jesus at his circumcision. Here we have a foreshadowing of baptism and
remember how God has provided a way to bring us into his family from the Old
Testament in Num.6:22-27 into the New Testament in Gal.3:23-29

Sunday, January 8: The baptism of Christ in Mark 1:4-11 reminds us of our own.
Rom.6:1-11 describes how our lives are to look once Christ has claimed us.
Gen.1:1-5 describes the original creation; in baptism, God restores us to the
original condition.

ADVENT 2011,
Wednesday’s  7:30 P.M.    “JESUS FULFILLS THE SCRIPTURES”
Jesus was the promised Messiah and as we meditate upon the promises we see them fulfilled in the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. Join us this Advent season for a study that will take us through these texts to discover how Jesus not only fulfilled scripture but fills up completely the meaning of the promises.
